As of this time my practice is completely virtual. I use a HIPAA secure video platform, Simple Practice, to provide all telehealth services. Telehealth is a convenient mode of therapy that allows you to engage in therapeutic sessions from the comfort of your own space using video conferencing technology. Research has shown that telehealth can be just as effective as traditional in-person therapy, however, depending on your personal needs you may still prefer in-person as opposed to virtual sessions.
Telehealth
Accessibility - telehealth breaks down geographical barriers and offers flexibility in scheduling. You can access a broader range of therapists, ensuring you find the right fit for your needs.
Advantageous during challenging circumstances, such as during a pandemic or for individuals with a wide range of health and/or mobility issues.
Benefits
Allows the opportunity to provide specialized care to those who may not have access in their area.
Technical issues (poor internet connectivity) can disrupt the flow of a session, impacting the quality of communication.
Privacy concerns may arise if you're unable to find a quiet and confidential space for your sessions leading to a possible reschedule.
The lack of non-verbal cues in virtual communication may pose challenges in fully understanding emotions or reactions, potentially leading to misunderstandings.
Risks
Ensuring a secure and private environment is crucial to maintain the confidentiality of your therapy sessions. It's also essential to have a contingency plan in case of technical difficulties and to communicate openly about any concerns. Additionally, it is extremely important to create a plan in case of an emergency to manage safety and prevent risk.
While these challenges exist, many can be mitigated with careful planning and communication, allowing for a positive and effective telehealth therapy experience.
Maximize Your Telehealth Experience

Telehealth is a powerful tool that, when used with intention, can offer a therapeutic experience that is both effective and accessible, promoting your well-being from wherever you are.
